Scholastic Spring Book Fair at LFE
The Scholastic Book Fair
is coming to "The Farm"! This year's event will take place
from February 27th - March 2nd. There will be a grand
opening evening on February and an additional evening event that
will coincide with the PTA Family Movie Night on Friday, March
2nd.
In order to keep the book
fair open and to keep the library up and running, there is a
need for a number of volunteers in the mornings and at the two
evening events. If you have a time that you have available
and would like to volunteer at the book fair, it would be
greatly appreciated.

M.A.P.
Test Schedule
As we head
into the final weeks of the 3rd quarter it is time to begin
thinking of M.A.P. Testing for those students in grades three
through six. The M.A.P. Test is the state assessment over
specific skills that each grade level works on.
Below is
the tentative M.A.P. Schedule. The schedule is subject to
a few changes, but this will be the general testing window.
A firm schedule will be available as the actual testing gets
closer.

Notifying School of Transportation Changes
From time
to time you may find that you need to change the way that your
child gets home from school. If you know about the changes in
advance, please be sure to send in a written note with your
child or call the school office to make them aware of the
changes.
Please
do not send emails regarding transportation changes!
If an
unanticipated change in transportation arises, please call the
office; if possible, before 2:30 p.m. This will allow the
office staff to communicate the changes to the teacher and will
avoid the difficulty of trying to notify your child when he/she
is transitioning at the end of the day.
Below is a
pre-printed form that you are welcome to use as a note to
document transportation changes.

Car
Rider Placards
Over the
past few years we have worked hard to perfect the drop off and
pick up procedures in order to assure that all the boys and
girls can safely get to their cars while those who are waiting
can be assured that the flow of traffic will move in an
expeditious manner.
An
important part of this procedure involves that all those who
will be picking up or dropping off students have a Card Rider
Placard in their window.
You can
access the Car Rider Placard by clicking on the icon below.

Walker
Permission Form
Due to the
location of Longview Farm Elementary and the close proximity of
many of the subdivisions that surround the school, some families
might want to have their children walk to and from school.
All students who will be walking to or from school at any time
during the year will need to have a Walker Permission Form
on file in the office.
Below are
guidelines that have been established for those who walk to
school.
Walkers
are asked to:
-
Not arrive before 8:45 a.m.
-
Walk directly to school and directly home from school
-
Demonstrate LFE quality conduct when walking to and from
school
-
Ride the bus on bad weather days UNLESS their parent
contacts the school office to inform them otherwise before
3:30 p.m.
-
Walk along sidewalks and pathways designed for foot traffic,
not in the street or cutting through yards
-
Check with the LFE Staff Member on duty before they LEAVE to
walk home
-
Wait to leave until the walkers are called for dismissal at
3:55 p.m. daily

Attention All Shutterbugs!

have a copy of your pictures to use in the school yearbook
and as a part of the PTA's Historic Preservation Committee
documentation.
Below you will find the email addresses of the
chairperson of the Yearbook Committee and the chairperson of
the PTA Historic Preservation Committee. As you snap
photos, it would be greatly appreciated if you would sent a
copy to these individuals.
